‘It’s time to end the war on drugs’, says top UK police chief

CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s expert opinion on the medicinal benefits of marijuana does a complete 180 around the time US Attorney General Eric Holder says American ‘low level’ nonviolent drug offenders will no longer face mandatory minimum sentences.

Now, Mike Barton, Durham’s chief constable, says NHS ‘could be used to supply addicts’ and urges drugs policy revolution.  Barton goes on to say, “outright prohibition hands revenue streams to villains.”

It seems simple, yet we’ve never heard law enforcement, government officials or any sort of policy maker say it.  What’s happening?  Are we poised for an international shift in opinion in relation to nonviolent drug use?Heroin-006
